New Wii firmware update blocks Wii Freeloader as well
Posted by BillyC on Jun-17-2008
Today Nintendo released a new firmware update for its Wii-console, and immediately homebrewers and hackers complained about their Wii being blocked. The Twilight Princess hack has disappeared, so hacking your Wii won’t be easy in the future.
But now it looks like the new system software for the Wii also blocks the use of the Wii Freeloader. Datel always advertised that their Wii Freeloader wouldn’t be get killed by future updates, but now it seems that Nintendo found a way to block it.

Okay, I’m kind of confused. As of today, if I’m running firmware version 3.2, will the Freeloader still work at this time or not? One post makes it sound like it still is working on firmware 3.2 and older versions and another post makes it sound like it won’t work on any firmware version at this time. Would someone be kind enough to clarify this for me? TIA.
Regarding my previous post, seeing as how this site doesn’t automatically post a date/time stamp on our comments it seems like, I thought I would clarify “…As of today…” as being Aug 4th, 2008.
